Jody's Story
Hello, welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit our website!
I'm Jody Mohoff, CNWC, CST-D, owner and visionary behind the Alternative Wellness Group (AWG).
I've been practicing Cranio-sacral therapy (CST) since 2008 through the renowned Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I’m a Diplomate Certified advanced practitioner.
I was first introduced to cranio-sacral therapy while working as a veterinary technician. I couldn't believe how quickly the animals' health and wellness improved with this modality. It was an easy decision to continue my education in the CST field.
My studies are more recently focused on brain injuries, concussions and how the rest of the body responds and heals when assessing and treating the brain structures. As an advanced practitioner, I also serve as an assistant-teacher of Upledger Institute courses when opportunity allows.
Additionally, I am a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant which allows me to better work with each client to achieve wholeness. The key to health is wholeness. By combining nutrition and body work, positive results exponentially increase.
I was born and raised in the Bitterroot Valley. The beauty of this valley, these mountains, and the people who live here make this place my home. I look forward to meeting you soon and helping you to optimize your health and well being.
What is Cranial Sacral Therapy
Cranial Sacral (Cranio-Sacral) Therapy is a low risk, high benefit hands on form of manual therapy originating in Osteopathic studies. It is extremely gentle, non-invasive and causes no adverse risks or side-effects. It is particularly suitable for the treatment of babies and children. CST is an Osteopathic technique and is not related to massage. Its basis is that the body has the knowledge to sell-correct. As a practitioner, I manually apply subtle movement to the connective tissue (fascia), spine and cranial bones to bring the Central Nervous System into harmony by assessing and treating the movement of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The CSF can be restricted by any trauma from utero to birth and throughout life causing scar tissue and adhesions. Treatment of this system allows for restrictions of nerve passages to be eased and movement of CSF is optimized.
This proper alignment helps protein, electrolytes, amino acids and other essential nutrients to be delivered throughout the body. Pressures on the cranium during difficult childbirth create the potential for getting "stuck" and the use of interventions (surgical, chemical, c-section) greatly affect the infant's body and have a significant impact on the nervous system, thus affecting the body throughout time. Facilitating release of any restrictions will lead to a healthier and happier life. It is highly effective on a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. Ailments that are often resistant to conventional treatment may be alleviated.
Why It Works
Cranial sacral therapy assess the body in such a non-invasive and careful manner that the body allows for changes to happen. Due to life and circumstance that we encounter, our bodies tend to get to a stuck place of less mobility and therefore, less ideal function. Gentle palpation allows for the practitioner to feel areas of restriction in the tissues and helps to facilitate releases. Release of restrictions in the Central Nervous System allows expansion and space therefore better movement of cerebrospinal fluid.
